Hello to all!

My family and I are living in Houma, LA, where my husband is a sergeant with the Louisiana State Police, and I am teaching 8th grade English at Vandebilt Catholic High School. Our daughter is now 9 years old...how time flies. Things are going very well for us, and we consider ourselves extremely blessed. We are in a great neighborhood and have wonderful neighbors. My parents still live in Slidell and were spared by the storm. They only lost their boat and the trees in their yard.

We had quite a scare last year after we returned from our cruise. Matt developed necrotizing fasciitis (flesh-eating bacteria) in his left arm. He was rushed into emergency surgery, and thanks to a team of doctors, 4 days in ICU and 2 weeks in the hospital, Matt emerged with his left arm and no significant after-effects. We are so lucky considering many people experience residual muscle and nerve pain, but he has none of this. He still rides his bike and races.

Morgaine received her Rite of First Eucharist this past year along with First Reconciliation. Our friend Father P.J. performed both rites and, just a few years before, blessed our marriage.

I am making the move to the "big" school. I have been teaching middle school at St. Bernadette Catholic School for the past 7 years, and I decided this year to make the move to the high school. I will be teaching English and moderating the senior high school student council. I am very excited and a bit nervous about the change, but it will hopefully prove to be a great move.

There is much more to tell, but I'll leave it at that until later. I hope this finds everyone well and enjoying life.

Thanks for the update Amie, as well as for the HS pictures you sent in. I will be posting them shortly. Best of luck to you as you prepare to tackle High School in the Fall.
