Though released in mid 1988, I had never heard the song "It Takes Two" before I witnessed Cedric Cooper's performance at the NHS Star Search talent contest in 1988.
Cedric, along with the always comical and entertaining Brown Brothers (Anthony Lawson & Tellas Sauceda), brought the house down with his performance of Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock's now classic hip-hop anthem "It Takes Two".
I still remember running out to Camelot Music in the mall the weekend following the talent show and buying the cassette single (pictured). This cassette saw more rotations in my car's cassette player during the late 80s than any other cassette I owned. "It Takes Two" along with other hip-hop dance songs like Young MC's "Bust A Move", and MC Hammer's "U Can't Touch This" were always crowd favorites at any NHS dance during the late 80s.
And now for the performance you've all been waiting for...Hit it!
